Personally Offended: an Untappd Story
“Sean, can you come over here for a moment,” said the quiet yet authoritative voice behind me. I was in the middle of unloading glassware twenty minutes before the doors were supposed to open. My co-worker, who was cracking open a new box of sampling glasses, looked at me and shrugged, almost to say, “Better you than me.”
I set down the tulip glass I was drying off and started walking towards my manager. As I began walking, he directed me through the door leaving the tasting room, towards the large warehouse where all the empty kegs were stored, stopping just before the ramp to the warehouse.
He stood in silence for a moment before speaking. I could see the familiar kegs just beyond him, adorned with the brand I’d been indoctrinated into, Service Brewing Company. But my attention wasn’t there; it was on the thin-moustached manager standing in front of me.
I already knew what was about to happen. He was going to reprimand me for using Untappd at work.
